What is the 2025 programme... 24 Days to Celebrate Women's Musical Diversity: A Sound Revolution in France
Sep 12, 2025
From November 13 to December 6, 2025, France will host “24 Days to Celebrate Women’s Musical Diversity,” a vibrant festival across cities like Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, and Toulouse, aimed at spotlighting female musicians and tackling their underrepresentation in the music industry, where women comprised only 33% of festival performers in 2024. Led by cultural groups like “Les Femmes s’en Mêlent” and local collectives, the event will feature genres from jazz to afropunk, with artists like Sophye Soliveau’s soulful jazz, Regina Demina’s electro-pop, Melenas’ indie rock, and Tschegue’s African-infused beats performing in venues like’’ La Maroquinerie’’ and ‘’Le Transbordeur’’. Expect collaborative jam sessions and over 50,000 attendees, with Paris hosting more than 20 concerts.
The festival will also offer masterclasses on production and sound engineering, workshops like Soliveau’s in Lyon, mentoring young vocalists, and panels on issues like pay gaps. Documentaries on women in music will spark dialogue. Affordable tickets ensure accessibility, and social media, with hashtags like #WomenInMusicFR, will boost global reach. Logistical challenges in smaller cities like Toulouse are being addressed, and calls for more non-European artists aim to diversify the line-up. This landmark event will blend performances, education, and advocacy to champion equity, potentially becoming an annual fixture and reshaping the music scene with female creativity.
